A Great Time at Ken's 40th High School Reunion

Updated: Sep 24, 2019

I took a solo trip to Vestal, NY to attend my 40th high school reunion. I arrived on Thursday, July 25th and had dinner with Steve Ferraro, a great friend from junior and senior high, and college. We each had a spiedie dinner at the Ale House, and chatted about old times, and the changes that have occurred in the region. I very much enjoyed catching up with Steve.

On Friday morning, I teamed up with best friends Pat Morrissey and Brian Smacher for a golf tournament at The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, NY. We did pretty well in the captain and crew format, but had more fun than our score reflected. Friday night was a mixer at the Elks Lodge in Vestal with about 200 classmates and some spouses. I saw some old school friends and caught up on their life stories. Pat, Brian, Steve and I finished off the night with some ice cream.

Pat, Brian, and I met up with best friend Mark Dunn on Saturday at a BBQ at the Binghamton Country Club. It also was well attended, and I talked to a few friends whom I missed the night before at the mixer. Below is a nice picture of the 4 of us.

Pat attended a dinner with his family, and Brian, Mark and I drove around the old neighborhoods to look at the houses in which we grew up. Everything seemed smaller to me.

We then dined on spiedie subs from Lupo's Char Pit, my favorite place for spiedies. Later, Mark and Brian attended a reunion concert by the Talking Heads tribute band, Start Making Sense. I decided to not attend the concert and headed back to my hotel for a good nights sleep.

Before heading home on Sunday morning, I had breakfast with Mark and Pat.

I had a wonderful time and lots of laughs with great friends, and it was nice seeing Vestal and the surrounding area again. We're planning to visit Mark in Las Vegas in April of 2020. I am blessed to have such terrific friends.
