Isolation Day 31 - Shopping Day

Connie spoke on the phone yesterday with her Dad and with my sister Pat. This had to have really lifted her spirits. The hospital has still not gotten the results of the last Covid test they sent in. Al spoke to Connie's case manager about rehabilitation facilities and she recommended an "acute rehabilitation facility" that provides a higher level of intensive therapy than she would receive at a skilled nursing facility. The acute rehabilitation facility requires she test negative on two consecutive Covid tests, and not taken any Tylenol for headache or fever for three days before they would admit her. She's doing well but needs to get a lot stronger.

Shelly and I went to Wegman's to shop for her mom and ourselves. Wegman's is very well prepared, there are tape lines all over the floor to promote social distancing, and they sanitize the shopping carts and the check-out conveyor belt and surroundings after each person checks out. They actually had hand sanitizer, toilet paper and paper towels, although there was a limit of one per customer. We wore our masks and I felt pretty safe. We separated the groceries and drove to Shelly's mom's place to drop them off. It was nice getting out and about for a bit. I didn't even mind sitting at red lights.

I watched the movie Top Gun starring Tom Cruise. I've seen this movie at least a dozen times. Which begs the question, why am I watching old movies that I've seen before rather than new movies or series on Amazon Prime, Netflix or Hulu? I don't know. Comfort I guess. Anyway, Top Gun is good for an adrenaline rush.

Here's a throwback photo of Shelly with a little girl in New Delhi, India in 2014. We were at Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity which was filled with orphaned children and adults with physical and mental challenges. Shelly was her usual self getting everyone to smile.

And in closing, Shelly and I saw Bon Jovi in May 2018 at the Verizon Center in Washington DC. Great concert. Here's Living on a Prayer.
