Isolation Day 66 - Not Much but a Movie Today

I talked with my brother Jack today. He's doing OK. Bobbie's funeral mass is scheduled for July 11th. So Shelly and I will be traveling to Richmond for this.

It's been a pretty uneventful day. I watched the movie The Departed (it takes place in Boston so it would be "The Depahted") . It's a fabulous film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, and Jack Nicholson, and was directed by Martin Scorcese. It won the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director in 2006. In this crime-action film, the South Boston state police force is waging war on Irish-American organized crime. Young undercover cop Billy Costigan (DiCaprio) is assigned to infiltrate the mob syndicate run by gangland chief Frank Costello (Nicholson). While Billy quickly gains Costello's confidence, Colin Sullivan (Damon), a hardened young criminal who has infiltrated the state police as an informer for the syndicate is rising to a position of power in the Special Investigation Unit. Each man becomes deeply consumed by their double lives, gathering information about the plans and counter-plans of the operations they have penetrated. But when it becomes clear to both the mob and the police that there is a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin are suddenly in danger of being caught and exposed to the enemy - and each must race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save themselves. It's a truly great film worth 9 out of 10 stars.

Here's a throwback photo of Shelly on our cruise boat balcony as we toured Halong Bay in Vietnam.

And in closing, Badfinger is one of my favorite bands from the early 70's. They were one of the first acts The Beatles signed to their Apple Record label. Here they are performing "Baby Blue."
