The National Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington DC

Dear friends Kate Coleman and Kristian Anderson, joined Shelly and me to attend the lighting of the National Christmas Tree on November 30, 2023. Shelly entered a lottery for seats and won 4 seats. The weather was beautiful, around the low 50's and sunny, when we arrived at the Ellipse in front of the White House, where the event would take place. I bundled up in layers because I get cold in any weather. We arrived around 3:30pm for the 6:00pm show start, so we just chatted and took photos.

My guess is there were a couple thousand people in attendance, and we had decent seats. The show was hosted by country-singer Mickey Guyton. Featured performers included Dionne Warwick, and Joe Walsh, of Eagles fame. The performers were good and sang all sorts of Christmas and seasonal songs. President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden lit the tree around 6:15pm and then watched the festivities. The show wrapped up around 7:30pm and we headed home. It was a wonderful experience and we all had a great time. Merry Christmas to all!
