So I watched the Giants-Steelers football game last night, and tonight I'm watching the Yankees-Blue Jays baseball game on my laptop and the Celtics-Heat basketball game on TV. I learned a number of fundamentals playing sports when I was younger (much younger). In baseball, you always used two hands to catch the ball. In basketball, you always followed up your shot by crashing the boards to try to get a rebound. In football, if you had the ball and were running along the sideline, you put a shoulder into the oncoming tackler to pick up an extra yard rather than running out of bounds and avoiding the tackle. I rarely see these fundamentals used anymore in sports, and I am not sure why. There must be different philosophies going on today. Anyone have any thoughts and care to comment?
